Hey guys! Now as some of you may know I been trying to draw dragons or find the best way to draw them. Just today I have found a really good method and have been trying it out and so far it looks awesome. I used paint tool sai and all the shadows / lighting are by shades of grey. Then over that layer is another layer with the setting overlay to create the color. It's still in progress and so far in my own opinion looks awesome so far. Opinions of it will be great and maybe some tips or ideas for background. Hope you like!
I mean, it's kind of hard to tell what I'm looking at because it isn't finished... you probably shouldn't post it on here until we can tell that it's a dragon.
Looks ace so far, but I don't think people will be able to tell it's a dragon from the head alone. Should finish the rest of it, I reckon it'd look really good ^-^
Looks amazing in terms of shadows/highlights, but there are still some white patches which I think might be harder to see when you're drawing with grey rather than blue, so I'm a little unsure about the method. A way to deal with that might be having the base in one layer with the shadow and highlight colours in another on top, so it can be solid without having white bits or having to fiddle with the density all the time.
Yeah also white patches are hard to see for me because this is zoomed in by about x400 or x300 so you can see all the detail when you zoom out to see the whole of it you do not see the white patches. As you can see:
You see the pixels more when you're zoomed in, so try increasing canvas size, maybe brush size too and scroll out when you next draw something.
I was using a drawing tablet where there is pressure censor so the thickness of the line depends how lightly/ hardly you draw. The tool I use is the sketch tool (first tool).
Joke skin haha It's meant to be an evil / corrupted articuno just changing it now to an old skin of mine right now
