There are 3 main problems with KitPvP as it is: Not enough players Veteran advantage Unbalanced kits I have come up with ways to solve both of these. 1. Not enough players In the Creative chat, there are random announcements that pop up every now and then. Simply add one about /server kitpvp to the chat. Other reasons for the low player count is the veteran advantage and the unbalanced kits, so by solving those you solve these. 2. Veteran advantage Right now, the unlocking system is very unfair. If you are a player that just joined Mega but you are very good at PvP, you are at a disadvantage to someone with your same skill level that has played Mega for a while, even though you should be on par with them. Giving people Sharpness, Knockback, Protection, and more items just because they played longer is not very fair. The reason many player v.s. player games such as TF2, Overwatch, etc. work is because they don't let you "level up" your character to be more powerful. When you are a new player, first impressions matter. If you join a game and the other player has an unfair advantage it doesn't make you want to keep playing. This ties in with the "not enough players" problem. Of course, we still need a progression system, because that's always fun. However, I think that instead of buying upgrades for 100 points, you should be able to buy new kits for 150 points. More on this later 3. Unbalanced kits Right now, Tank is the undisputed best kit of KitPvP. If you are using Tank, you aren't doing as good as you could be. Tank has the most survivability and the most damage of all of the kits. Basically, the following needs to happen in order to balance the kits: Buff Vampire and Demolitionist Nerf Tank Another problem, although this isn't necessarily a balance issue so much as a gameplay issue, is that items don't regen. The only way to get more items is to click a refill sign, and these refill signs are often hidden, which ties in with the Veteran advantage because new players will do worse because they don't know these "secret" refill signs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Changes / Additions General Removed all upgrades Refunded all points (Just set everyone's points to the same number as their kills) Points now buy new kits instead Initially, only Archer and Tank are unlocked Vampire - Replace Wooden Sword with Stone Sword Demolitionist - Armor has Blast Resistance - Restock 1 TNT every 10 seconds (max of 2) Archer - Restock 1 arrow every 3 seconds (max of 16) Assassin - Restock 1 Dash every 8 seconds (max of 2) Tank - Remove passive Strength effect - Replace Iron Sword with Stone Sword Example of a New Kit Witch Chainmail Armor Wooden Sword (Inflicts Wither II for 2 sec) Passive Speed I and Regen I Restock 1 Splash Potion of Instant Damage every 6 seconds (max of 1) This kit is based on keeping just out of range of your opponent. Your armor is okay and your sword is bad, so if you get too close, you are gonna die. However, you can use your Speed I to keep your distance and get a few sword hits. The wither damage is 0.5 hearts per second for 2 seconds, so yo deal more damage per swing if you don't spamclick, but apply a matador/juking strategy to hit every couple seconds without being hit yourself. This also gives your regen effect time to work. Your damage potions deal 0.5 to 3 hearts of damage, depending on how close the target is to the center of the splash. Use this while outside of your enemy's range to stay safe and deal damage. How to counter: Range (Archer), Speed (Assassin)
An upgrade to kitpvp is long overdue. However, by removing things that "veterans" can buy to give them an advantage removes the drive to fight and therefore people don't want to play. I do agree that some kits *cough* tank *cough* are too OP and make the other kits pretty bad.
It already has a stone sword *3 *3 No thanks. I currently have the most kills on the server, and I mostly use the Tank kit. I have only upgraded the sword.
'Back' If Mega went back to how it used to be all together there would still be people like you complaining for no reason.
We are working on PvP and we would appreciate it if people like you @lifekiller43_ would stop making pointless posts on the subject.
I do think that in this case his point was valid; if he wishes to suggest that he liked the old KitPVP better then I think that's a relevant post and a valid suggestion.
