Those with very developed islands tend to find that they have an excess of useful materials, such as seeds, saplings and bones. We have little use for these items, yet they're essential for the monotonous early-game. Considering you spawn in with no money in your balance upon joining for the first time, the first 100 island levels come very slowly. A Community Chest would fix this. This would consist of a chest located in the spawn that anybody can open. This would mean more developed islands could donate their surplus resources to the rest of the community. Pros -Smoother early-game for noobs, removing much of the "now we just sit here and wait..." aspect -Interesting way for non-fly members to host drop parties and/or giveaways -Encourages community engagement Cons -Selfish people exist -Could devalue some players' early-game accomplishments
It's a neat suggestion but I think there are some players who will take everything regardless their worth :/
Probably, but it'll still disproportionately benefit new players. It'll also be an easier way to give players low-value items without having to coordinate a private location in spawn, and will make for a fun way to give away items. I don't think high-level players will check the contents of the chest frequently either, so it should mostly be noobs using it.
