First I believe to keep all mods that we can that have a new version except for: Forestry, Tinker IO, and Academy Craft

    Magic Mods:
Thaum 6 - Easy choice for magic (Still in beta)
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/thaumcraft/files

Embers - A new age magic mod with dwarfen styles
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/embers

Roots - The counter part from Embers based more on elfen magic
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/roots

Astral sorcery - A different magic mod getting traction for the later versions. Has some thaum like flavor but for the most part seems really different from other magic mods I've seen
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/astral-sorcery

Evilcraft - A neat niche mod with magic
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/evilcraft

Totemic mod - Totem pole magic, rituals to help try to heal the gap without witchery
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/totemic

Howling moon mod - Basically the new age werewolf mod
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/howling-moon

Vampirism - The vampire counter part.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/vampirism-become-a-vampire

Everlasting abilities - A magic mod with permante abilities. I think it will add a good layer of magic overall.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/everlastingabilities

Blood bank mod - A smaller niche magic mod. Focuses more on collecting souls and necromancy another magic not well represented in AW. (Not like the horrid necromancy mod that lets you make servants)
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/blood-bank

Crystallogy mod - A mod using crystals... it has aspects of Dartcraft and witchery which is cool.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/crystallogy

    RPG inventory mod - Im always up for more stuff to wear to help out! Might not fit the flavor of the server tho ;-;
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/the-rpg-inventory-and-classarmor-mod

Angel of vengeance - A magic mod more about healing magic, something lacking very much in current AW!
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/angel-of-vengeance

Reliquary - Assortment of items and potions made from mob drops
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/reliquary-v1-3

Wizardy mod - has an ars magica like flavor plus cool spell animation
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/wizardry-mod

Arche mod - The philosopher from EE. Basically just the stone and not all the op emc systems. Has some progression.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/arche

Extra alchemy - more potions. Why not open up alchemy field some more!
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/extra-alchemy

Quality tools mod - Gives tools random extra stuff by chance on crafting. Has rpg elements and adds a lot of depth to the game and can change pvp.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/quality-tools

ElectroBob's Wizardy - Has spells and wands. Simple to use and has a flavor of the first ars magica
    https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/electroblobs-wizardry

    Assorted Mods
Here are some mods that add neat stuff. They are similar to extra utilities and open blocks. I don't mean like mods that only add ore and tools with it either.

Dark utilities - Smaller mod that has a open blocks sort of feel. New stuff, cool stuff
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/dark-utilities

Tiny progressions - Similar to extra utilities, complete with watering cans that are not crap like the updated extra utilities ones.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/tiny-progressions

Quark - From the botania creator. Just adds a bunch of vanillish features. A lot of new stuff but nothing out of the ordinary. Most modpacks I have seen use it.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/quark

    Other:

Actually additions - Basically the mod of newer modpacks. It's a machine mod with magical aspects. Very popular
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/actually-additions

Actaully baubles -The bauble addon for actaully additions
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/actually-baubles

Tinkers defense - Shields for tinkers construct. .-.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/tinkers-defense

Bibiliocraft - Pretty beloved mod we got rid of. Loved for functional decor
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/bibliocraft

Akashic tome - A small mod that adds a book that can absorb other mods books and access them. Basically can hold on to your Lexican Botania, thaumaunicon, and Arcane Compendium
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/akashic-tome

Now heres somthing I'm a bit confused with so best of luck!
Mystical agriculture / primordial crops - Idk which one is the successor of Magic Crops
    Mystical agriculture: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/mystical-agriculture
    Primordial crops: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/primordial-crops

Mystical aggriadditions - Addon for mystical agriculture
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/mystical-agradditions

    Now Here's the mods I'd like to see which I think got low chances ;-;

Doomlike dungeons - World gen Dungeons?
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/project-74246

    Dungeons 2 - See above. ._.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/dungeons2

Corrupted ones - Ok im a bit on edge about this one BUT basically it adds deformed looking players as a hostile mob thats pretty strong (In Vanilla Terms) I think it could add a neat flavor with the idea of a mage Apocalypse which also flows well with the new thaum hinting at the old mages dieing with there old ways.
    https://www.minecraftforum.net/foru...-mods/2756423-the-corrupted-ones-1-10-2-forge

Spin to win mod: The new combat system might anger some people like it did in vanilla. So why not give them a spin move! Has a cool down so no worries on spam.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/spin-to-win

JJ coat of arms: Just let us make some sick banners for our clans.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/jj-coats-of-arms

Finally a mod I feel definitely wont make it but I can dream...

Eternal winter - Lets it snow in all biomes! We could have an ice age apocalypse theme for the rebirth of AW with the major switch! (Do it for a good ice mage? .-. plz? )
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/eternal-winter

    EDIT 1

Checking out the mods more in depth to learn them a bit more. It seems RPG inventory also has some addons involving armor which gives people abilities. I don't mean like hexxit gives 2 vanilla buffs either, looks like full fledged power you can upgrade over time.

I myself love magical power and abilities and can see a great PVE aspect to these addons. PVP I'm more hesitant to say due to the huge changes associated with the switch to a newer version. If PVP can still reach what I would refer to as "modded level op" armor might not be a huge factor and then these would also play a fun part in friendly PVP fights.

    Here are the links,
Berserker, Mage, and Archer Classes: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/class-armor-berserker-mage-and-archer

    Necromancer & Paladin Classes: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/class-armor-necromancer-and-paladin

    Beast Master Class: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/class-armor-beast-master

    EDIT 2

    Again with more Mod Suggestions!

Mutant Creatures Mod: This has been rolling around for awhile and I have never taken it too seriously but I really hope to push for a mage apocalypse theme to help the huge transistion. What apocyplse is complete without some mutated monster (Possibly made from all the flux you guys released on AW5)

    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/mutant-creatures-mod

Silent Gems Mod: At first glance it looks like just another mod with random ore and tools with no real depth to it. Take a harder look at you will see people comparing it to Tinkers Construct. The key to this mod I beleive is the modular armor which allows you to customize different effect your armor would be. I imagine this would fit into around the zivicio tier range meaning most people would be wearing this stuff. .-. (Heh guess you really can call it a silent gem)

    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/silents-gems?gameCategorySlug=mc-mods&projectID=220311

Toro Quest Mod: This will add different NPC's in the world to give quest. This basicly spices up the world terrain by putting some dungeons and towns in and let some player get a better PVE experience.

    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/toroquest

Ice and Fire Mod: I'm hesitant about adding mobs to the game even though I truly enjoy spicing up things. But dragons would be cool not to mention it adds other horrendous mobs to cause terror. I'm not huge on the taming aspect because chances are people will lose dragons a million ways but I am interested in the fighting dragons aspect.

    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/ice-and-fire-dragons-in-a-whole-new-light

Dynamic Sword Skills Mod: The PVP update in vanilla minecraft caused some uproar and I know a lot of the people stuck behind from modded are not so openly ready to change their ways of pvp combat. To aid this, I beleive we should add this mod for special moves to be used. They are learned in game so different people will have different moves. Plus it makes us better then those primitive vanilla plebs.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/dynamic-sword-skills

    EDIT 3

    Another update for my suggestions!

From an old friend who made mods I bring 2 mods.

    First his lootbox mod!
This mod adds lootboxes for every vanilla mob. This adds some little benefits to killing mobs and can really help out with occasional rarities like dragons breath! Lootbox loot pool can be edited.
    https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/lootmod

    Last is the cookie mod.
This probably won't make the cut but it was a mod made in my honor. It makes cookies that give potion effects and then cookie bushes that grow random cookies for you.

I don’t really think reliquary would fit in the pack, it would be kind of neglected imo. Do you know if the ice and fire mod would be laggy?

Yea I've seen requliry get neglected which is unfortunate due to the cool potions. As for the ice and fire mod I don't know. But this is why we have the beta test.

Thanks for all the suggestions! We have actually used a fair few of these in our first version of the modpack (Private ALPHA testing only). So I cant say how many of these are going to make it to the final release however you are missing one large thing!

DRAGON MOUNTS - WE NEED DRAGONS!
