There is an issue with updating the main servers(Survival, Creative, Skyblock and Elsafy) to 1.8. Bukkit, which we rely on to run those servers, is in a deadlock situation. We don't know when it's going to update to 1.8. We've relied on a small tweak which allows 1.8 clients to join but the new features aren't properly supported so they bug out. A new server which runs vanilla 1.8 for a game(MissleWars) will support the new blocks. Due to the way that the game will be hosted, you won't be able to build or play survival with these features. In light of the MissleWars server announcement, @BlueFusion12 might be more inclined to support a vanilla 1.8 survival server. I know a few people have asked for one.
