A few people were telling me how to create a minecraft server. So I decided to make a tutorial on the forums. Hope you enjoy!

First of all download the software:
    Vanilla server: www.minecraft.net/download
    Bukkit/spigot server: spigotmc.info
WARNING: Only download one from the links above.
Go onto your desktop, right click, hover over "new" and then click the "File" button. Name it "Minecraft Server" . Once the server software is downloaded drag it into your new file. Exit the internet and click the new file. Before doing anything, open the eula file with notepad and where it says "false" delete that and put in "true" when done, click "file" then "save". Exit out of the notepad and open the "server" file with notepad and file in the server properties. When done click "file" then "save". Open the java file. Wait a moment and then when done loading, minimize the java file.

NOTE: To have your server running leave open the java file close it if you want to close the server.
Run MInecraft and make sure you have the same version of the java file. E.g: If java file icon says "minecraft_server 1.8" run Minecraft 1.8.
On the main Minecraft menu click "Multiplayer" and then click "Direct connect" and type "localhost" then click done. You are now running your minecraft server. To get people to join MAKE SURE they put the port at the end of the ip. If you didn't want a port then don't enter it. To be opped on your own server open the java file and type "/op (MC name)" in the chatbox.

    How to get plugins:
Open your "Minecraft server" file then right click and click "new" then click "file" name the file "plugins" DO NOT name it something else MUST be "plugins". Find your plugin on bukkit.org
When the plugin has finished downloading drag it into the "plugins" file. Your plugin should hopefully be working if its not say in the comments what your problem is.

WARNING: Make sure your PC is in a dry cool place.
    Good luck running your server!

You can only put plugins on bukkit, just adding, and if you want a professional server hosts are best. You also need to port-forward the server so people on other PCs can join. You also need to find your IPv4 address to tell your friends
