I have no idea how this would even work, or if it even would, but perhaps Blue or whoever makes the plug-ins for MegaCraft could program something so that when someone wants to do a roleplay, they could just type a command in chat and from then on out that person or person's would speak in a different chat than the rest of the server. And you could make it so that each person could add have a prefix while in the chat so that people wouldn't have to type out their rp name then their message. Example: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PortalPlayer2 > Charlemagne: "Man, I sure do love waffles." Kadrek > Pyramus: "Ikr? Boy oh boy, waffles are so sumptuous! " (I just wanted to get my point across, ignore the stupidity of this example.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So instead of crap like that filling the chat, maybe it could go something like this. In the chat, you type in (for example) /chat rp. Then, you get a list of options if you wish to participate in an rp, such as a list of commands to change your name in the rp chat, perhaps ways to color your name for the rp chat, and then maybe an option to create your own rp chat settings, so that you could distinguish your rp from other people's rp's. A very complicated idea to read and try and understand, but it all works out in my head. If you have any questions as to what else could be part of this theoretical plug-in, leave a comment. That chat would be good for players, but as staff member we need to see if there is something going on. If we cant see the problem or someone is telling something against rules in rp chat like example someone is advertising. The only way that would work is that the chat still shows to staff members, maybe with like ** front of the rp's chat.
This idea has been thought about, but I have yet to come up with a perfect solution that addresses certain limitations such as what Jeq mentioned. If you have any suggestions, feel free to discuss!
People seem to only bring up rps as the reason for a plugin like this. I mean, that's the most immediate problem it would solve but I wouldn't make it an "rp plugin" because it'd basically just be private chat or chat channels.
It would be cool If You could do /server chat creature(or survival or whatever)and it only showed to chat in creative..
I don't know about other staff but I wouldn't care too much if I still saw the rp chat. It would still be better than now where we have to deal with both the rp chat and the people complaining about it. So yeah I say you just have the rp chat visible to staff, like Jeqqe said. Sacrifices must be made.
holy crap this is the best idea ive ever seen then we don't have to see everyother thing put in chat be from creative and have that be from a roleplaying thing. that would make it soo much easier to not have to keep seeing Elsa: Dies or something along the lines of that from elsafy.
