Indeed, but I'll explain: Bukkit was acquired by Mojang, due to a DMCA request that was made by a.. founder of Bukkit, and most of their staff quit, and it's possible that Bukkit will die. But there's a new project that devs from Bukkit, Spigot, Forge etc. are working on called Sponge, which will be launched mainly for 1.8 and possibly for 1.7.
